PKF helps Western Australian businesses access the Local Capability Fund
Supporting WA Growth: PKF’s insight on grants up to $50k for SMEs via the Local Capability Fund. Apply by 4 Sept 2025.
The Department of Energy and Economic Diversification launched the Local Capability Fund (LCF) to help small and medium-sized enterprises in Western Australia to increase their capability, capacity, and competitiveness as suppliers of products, services and works to the public and private sector. The Department recently announced the latest round of funding and applications are due on 4th September 2025. Funding ranges from $5,000 to $50,000 and will cover between 50% and 75% of eligible costs depending on the individual grant round.
Eligibility
Eligibility criteria differs for each grant. In general, businesses must:
Be a small or medium-sized business in Western Australia (based on eligibility criteria, including but not limited to turnover/headcount)
Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
Be financially solvent
Supply goods or services to businesses; or local, state or commonwealth government agencies. Consideration will be given toconsumer-focused businesses whose proposed activities demonstrate strong potential to expand into new markets.

How can the funding be used?
Engaging consultants to advise on matters including occupational health and safety, marketing, finance and cybersecurity
Planning improvements to internal infrastructure, plant and equipment and training
Making improvements to internal infrastructure, plant and equipment
Meeting pre-qualification requirements for supply-chain entry
Buying and upgrading essential equipment
