FACCI Joins Forces with OzHarvest to Tackle Food Waste and Support Communities
FACCI welcomes OzHarvest into its network and to stand as a proud supporter of their mission to fight food waste and feed people in need across Austra
FACCI and OzHarvest are strengthening ties by connecting our networks, expertise, and initiatives todrive meaningful change for people and the planet.
OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation. Their fleet of yellow vans are on the road everyday saving good surplus food from ending up in landfill and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need across the nation. Every $1 donated to OzHarvest allows them to deliver 2 meals to those in need.
Every meal delivered also means that good food is diverted from landfill. Food going into landfill is a huge contributor to dangerous greenhouse gas emissions, with 10% of all emissions impacting climate change coming from food waste.
Through this collaboration, FACCI’s network comprising more than 550 members from established corporations to young startups in Australia will have opportunities to engage with OzHarvest’s innovative programs such as Cooking for a Cause and CEO Cook-Offs – and explore ways to integrate food waste reduction and social responsibility into their own business activities.
This new connection will also support the ongoing events and initiatives of our FACCI South Australia Chapter in addressing food waste. OzHarvest South Australia is very active in this space, highlighted by the 2024 opening of their second free supermarket at Hindmarsh HQ, which now serves hundreds in the local community each week.
By bringing our communities together, we can amplify shared values, create meaningful impact, and work towards a future where no good food goes to waste.
