Adrian Weeks is the Australian Trade and Investment Commission’s Trade Commissioner, Pacific and Timor Leste. He is based in Brisbane and is responsible for key markets of Fiji, Timor Leste, New Caledonia, Samoa, French Polynesia and Vanuatu.
Adrian and his team in Suva are responsible for key relationships with Pacific companies, Australian businesses, government departments and industry associations that operate in these markets.
The Pacific region attracts the highest number of Australian exporters. This is due to the close geographic proximity of Australia to the Pacific and Australia’s wide supply chains provide a broad range of exports products to the region. In terms of services Australia is a dominant market for tourists to the region.
While each Pacific Island is unique the main sectors that attract Australian companies are mining, technology and digital services, agribusiness, infrastructure (water, energy & roads), building and construction materials and education.
Adrian has undertaken assignments in India, PNG and Thailand.
Prior to Austrade Adrian held business development positions with Tourism Australia for twelve years based in London, Los Angeles and Sydney. He also worked for the transport company Queensland Rail.
Adrian has a Masters of Business Administration from Griffith University.
