Angela Bell is the National Manager of Ethical Clothing Australia, an accreditation body commonly known as ECA. The accreditation program is focussed on ensuring that Australian Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) workers are being paid appropriately, receiving all their legal minimum entitlements and working in safe conditions throughout the entire supply chain. The program maps a company’s Australian supply chain throughout the entire cut, make and trim process, including all value adding processes. This is done via annual compliance audits conducted through an agreement with the TCF Union. At ECA, Angela reports to a committee of management that is made up of employer, business and union representations from the textile, clothing and footwear industry.
Angela spent the early years of her career working in media and communications before moving into corporate and environmental sustainability. Her various roles have included working as a media advisor for a Minister of the Crown; she has worked for the Commission for a Sustainable London 2012 -which was set up to oversee the sustainability elements of the London Olympic Games - she has worked at the Foundation for Young Australians undertaking a sustainability review of one of their programs, and for many years before joining ECA she worked for a national law firm overseeing their corporate communications and social responsibility work including having oversight of major communication events including landmark legal wins, crisis communications, and the introduction of an environmental strategy for the business. While working at the firm she completed a Graduate Certificate in Social Impact at Melbourne Business School.
