Alison CarringtonAustralian Consul General in Noumea, New Caledonia

Ms Carrington commenced as Australia’s Consul-General in Noumea, New Caledonia on 20 August 2019.  In this role, she is accredited to French Polynesia, and Wallis and Futuna, and represents Australia at the Pacific Community (SPC) based in Noumea.

Ms Carrington is a career officer with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).  Most recently, she served as Director of DFAT’s Queensland State Office.  Prior to this, she headed the European Union Section and the Sea Law, Environment Law and Antarctic Section in DFAT Canberra.  She also spent a number of years representing Australia at UN climate change negotiations. 

Overseas, she has previously served as Third and later Second Secretary at the Australian Embassy in Berlin, as well as undertaking short term missions in Jordan and Trinidad and Tobago.

Ms Carrington holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland.  She is married with two children.
